National Reading Month for Kids!
In March, the Youth Department is Celebrating National Reading Month with Reading Programs for all ages!
The Preschool Reading Program has a Dr. Seuss theme and kicks-off at our Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss event on March 2nd. The Elementary Reading Program has a western theme, Wanted: Readers. Both programs have reading logs, which can be picked up at the Youth Information Desk beginning March 1st, to help keep track of the time children spend reading in the month of March. If the child completes 5 hours of reading, they can return to the Youth Information Desk to collect a ticket to the Library Late Night Family Event. It’s a party in the library after the library has closed! This event is scheduled for Friday, March 25th from 6:00 to 8:30 pm. A great way to get your kids geared up for Summer Reading!
Middle Schoolers (grade 6th – 8th) are also encouraged to participate in a March Reading Program. Reading Logs will be available at the Youth Information Desk beginning March 1st. Middle Schoolers who complete 5 hours of reading in March will receive a ticket to the “invitation only” Library Late Night on Friday, April 8th from 6:00-8:30 pm. This party includes pizza, movies/video games on the big screen, crafts, and more!
