Grandmother & CIG endowment fund is growing!

Posted July 12, 2010 in  Events

On June 23, 2010, the Kalamazoo Community Foundation celebrated its 85th birthday by conducting a “MATCH DAY” in downtown Kalamazoo at the Radisson Plaza Hotel from 11am to 6 pm where they matched every dollar donated to the organizations whose endowments they manage with 50 cents – until a total of $85,000 was reached. Portage District Library participated in this unique event because our “Grandmother & CIG Endowment Fund” is administered by Kalamazoo Community Foundation.

This endowment fund was established back in 1997 by a local couple (who wish to remain anonymous) to benefit youth at the Portage District Library. The “Grandmother & CIG Endowment Fund” serves as a depository of gifts, conveyances, donations & other transfers that are used to benefit youth services. Proceeds enable special activities, projects, programs, and learning opportunities for youth, as well as enrichment of youth related materials & supplies not funded out of the library’s regular operating budget.

All donations made on “MATCH DAY” this year were matched 50 cents for every dollar by the Kalamazoo Community Foundation which will grow this fund.

You can still make a donation to the Grandmother and CIG Endowment Fund through the administering agency, by contacting:
